    1. The old adage goes 'Never judge a book by its cover.' It actually refers to making assumptions about a person based on their looks, but in this case you can take it literally. The back blurb of The Bull Years intrigued me but the cover didn't grab me at all. It looked like it was going to be the life story of a Russian porn star. Luckily for me I ignored my assumptions and decided to give the book a read. You know what they say - assume makes an ass of u and me. I would have been an ass if I did [...]

    2. The Bull Years is an excellent read. A compilation of diary entries made by some 30 plus people about their college life, the book basically revolves around a group of four good friends- Steve Levine, Sophia Dantan, Dave Miller and Brooke Smith. One college night changes everything and the protagonists find themselves thrown apart from each other. From there, they all go their separate ways, until there comes a time when Steve is working on A Life Projects and decides to get in touch with his ol [...]

    3. To see my full review:wp/p1jhaj-2JmThis is a pretty interesting novel that follows the disappointing lives of three “used-to-be” friends (the fourth couldn’t be contacted, so Steve finds a stand-in). There are a lot of funny parts that made me snicker aloud; these characters are definitely crazy, and I really hope they don’t emulate too many people out there. Really, I spent much of the novel thinking, “what is wrong with these kids?” So, here’s the line-up:Dave married a crazy gir [...]

    4. Let me start by saying that I was never more effected by a book and it’s author but not in a good way. Let me also state that I only got through 78% of this book before mentally throwing it against the wall (I would never do that to my kindle) so whether or not he managed to redeem himself in later chapters, will never be known to me.I don’t know what planet Mr. Stern lives on but where he resides, all women of all ages just love to give blow jobs to all men for any reason or no reason at al [...]

    5. Author Phil Stern has created an interesting story, told by four different people. Devised as a writing project, each of the four main characters spends time "journaling" about their past, how it has made them who they are today, and ultimately filling the gaps of several major story arcs. Not unlike a Tarantino script, each person brings a unique voice and interesting sub-plot to the table, and their "entries" are shuffled together so you never tire of one person's point of view. Definitely wor [...]

    6. Full review hereyourneedtoreadI received this book from the author himselfPhil Stern. Summary sounded interestingen I saw the cover. Anyone who reads my blog knows what a cover whore I am.Now once you read the book you'll understand the coverbut first impressions made me say, " What in the HELL???"I know.I know's not what you think Ladies's not.The book is about a group of friends who met in Collegeis is the 90's generation. In fact.ese folks are exactly my age now, and back then. The main ch [...]

    7. He calls this "A novel of America's Most Disillusioned Generation". I don't think folks who came of age in the eighties were any more disillusioned than the rest of us. This is a funny but cynical book. The author delights in showing us just how absurd people can be.The main character, Steve Levine is 39 years old when the story begins. He has not been successful in his attempts to be a writer. Instead he is in the home water purification business. One day he sees an ad from an "egghead scholar" [...]

    8. Okay, so maybe I'm supposed to say that this book sheds light on our silly generation and how we don't really DO anything. But meh. The characters were hard to like- which was the point, I guess. The build up to "that night" that tore them all apart was long and then disappointing when you find out it was just some silly drunken fight that makes no real sense. Then the book ends and it's years and years into the future and people are evaluating our times based on this silly book I just can't get [...]

    9. RidiculousThis book was very weird. It is about four college friends who lose each other after graduation. They just write journal entries for a Project. They never reconnect and there is one big event that happened and even that was a let down

    10. This is a good story. Unfortunately it was marred by the 22 errors I detected while reading it. If the author wants a llist of these errors contact me at amacd55 at gmail dot com.
