    About “Isabelle Goddard”

    1. Isabelle Goddard

I was born into an army family and most of my childhood was spent moving from school to school, including periods of living in Egypt and Germany Some schools I loved and some I hated, so it wasn t too surprising that I left before completing my examinations.I became a secretary but realised almost immediately that the role of handmaiden simply wasn t for me Escape beckoned when I landed a job with an airline I was determined to see as much of the world as possible and working as cabin crew I met some very interesting people and enjoyed some great experiences riding in the foothills of the Andes, walking the shores of Lake Victoria, flying pilgrims from Kandahar to Mecca. The arrival of marriage and children meant a settled life in the south of England where I ve lived ever since It also gave me the opportunity to go back to school and eventually gain a PhD For many years I taught English at a number of universities and loved every minute of it What could be better than spending my life reading and talking about books Well, writing them perhaps.Writing was an idea I enjoyed thinking about but there never seemed time to do than dabble with the occasional short story And I was always aware of a critical voice in my head telling me not to bother But gradually the voice grew fainter and the idea that I might actually write a whole book began to take hold I d always felt an affinity with the 19th century and grew up reading Georgette Heyer, so when I finally plucked up the courage to begin writing, the novels had to be Regency romances.I was delighted to learn just before Christmas 2009 that my first book, Reprobate Lord, Runaway Lady, had been accepted for publication Since then I ve published two further Regencies and a Victorian timeslip, Walking Through Glass I m getting immense pleasure from creating new worlds and sharing them with readers.
